Full Meaning of HND in Polytechnic
HND literally means Higher National Diploma. It is the second and concluding part of your polytechnic education in Nigeria.
It takes two years to get your Higher National Diploma Certificate after the completion of your National Diploma programme.
The number of semesters for HND is 4 – 6 depending on if you are a full-time student or a part-time student.
After your HND, you become a graduate of a Polytechnic and eligible to go for the mandatory National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
HND is not the same as B.sc or other bachelors degrees offered by a University but graduates of Polytechnics are better suited in the practical aspect in their chosen career.
